Billabong have just launched the B9 Platinum wetsuit, there most eco-friendly wetsuit to date.
The Eco-warrior, Rasta has launched this new range of wetsuits and if he’s backing it we can be pretty sure that the B9 is as eco-friendly as Billabong say it is.
90% of the Billabong Platinum B9 wetsuits external and internal fabrics (called the ‘B9 Flex’ and ‘B9 Thermal Flex’) are made from returned polyester products such as old fishing nets and clothing.
The balance 10% of the Platinum B9 fabric is a unique spandex fabric knitted in a way that allows the suit amazing elasticity and soft hand feel. The Platinum B9 also includes water-based inks to further reduce its impact on the environment.
It’s estimated the whole production process for the platinum B9 consumes 80% less energy and produces 80% less carbon dioxide emissions than a regular suit.
It’s only available in Australia at the moment but as soon as it arrives in the UK we’ll be getting our salty mitts on a range of B9s.

Product review from The Surfers Path about the Lakai Recycled Trainers we stock, right here at Peeler.
Lately there have been a ton of attempts at building more sustainable shoes. While we applaud the sea change and new green consciousness, many of the ‘eco-friendly’ shoes on offer are clunky and not all that cool. That’s why I’m so stoked on these Lakai recycled skate shoes. The Lakai Coda Select Recycled are the offshoot of Lakai’s efforts to reduce waste in their factories.
Basically, they sweep up all the scraps (leather, suede, mesh) from their first-run skate shoes, mix it with leftover factory stock, and use it all to build more shoes. Then they slap on new soles made of half re-ground recycled rubber, half new gum rubber. These are legit skate shoes. Totally comfortable and cool, plus since no two pairs are exactly the same you can be green and original.

This is the latest pair of recycled trainers from Lakai ‘The Manchester’.
Lakai have chosen to do their part for the planet by using excess shoe materials that would otherwise be thrown away to make selected trainers each season.
These trainers feature soles comprised of new gum rubber mixed with regrind rubber waste, reducing new material by up to 40%.
